Its a blessing in disguise working the fretts, it allowed you to also give the "rolled edges"feel like they do on higher end Fenders for that broken in feel, I hate a neck with sharp fretboard feel, cheap repro necks usually Maple are the worst for having the hard corners, rolling them helps.

I've fixed thisproblem a few times with a silicone wheel from a jewelry supply store in a mandrel and dremmel. They are 1" discs in various abrasions. Iuse the pink or light blue. Works great and they are eally cheap.

Hey Dave, you gave so many good tips I thought I'd give you a few of my own.
For those sharp fret ends, try a fine flat diamond grit file with light pressure. It'll remove the fret burrs without scratching the wood or finish. The file cuts metal but just slides on wood.
For truss rods, I use long-shaft (around 10") T handle hex keys, one set with plain ends and the other set with ball ends (great for acoustics).
Cheers.

Scared the hell outa me the first time I did it but I've had good results with one of those spongey sanding blocks on those edges.Work it down to fine steel wool and oil it up works great, kinda like the way it slightly rounds and softens the edge of the fretboard also.

Thanks for the vid. Very informative. I played a new ATK that nearly chopped my finger off because of horrible fret ends. I didn't know how to fix so I left it on the rack.

I just saw a really wrong add before this video. Also, with all the electronics and stuff in the body, do you need the pickguard to sheild things, or is it like the old ones where all you may need is a control plate cover?

I have a feeling you don't charge anywhere near what you should for what you do for these people.

How would you go about doing this fret finishing for a lacquered maple board, Dave?

A quick tip.. Don't worry with taping the neck and frretboard.. You're in control of the sanding block.. just don't sand where you don't want to.
