SPRINGFIELD -- When Larry Stephens was 3 years old he completely lost his hearing.
After going to the hospital the family found out Stephens has a hearing disability.
He initially was given hearing aids but those stopped working and so Stephens went through two different surgeries to get cochlear implants so he could hear normally.
Now a sophomore at Springfield he's turning heads with his play.
While the numbers won't wow you at 5.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game head coach Isaiah Carson says the future is very bright for Stephens saying once he allows Stephens to shoulder a bigger load the young guard will truly amaze.
Carson said that there is already significant interest from Division I colleges for Stephens' services.
Stephens is an important part of Springfield's squad that was ranked in the top 10 in Division I for most of the season and has hopes of making a run to the state final four.
