I think the tradition is neat, if you knew why these guys started this in the first place. Just went to the TAMU vs South Carolina game last Saturday and LOVED my experience there. The stadium, the Yell Leaders, The Fightin' Texas Aggies band was PHENOMENAL and everyone was so friendly. 102, 154 in attendance - that's impressive!

@drennanclark, I grew up near CS and went to some games and it is weird! Aggies are a different breed! Why do you think there are so many Aggie jokes?! LOL!!!

Since this started out as a military school there were no females obviously, so they had to make due with what they had. That’s when the concept of yell leaders came about. It is different, but at the games it is really cool to watch them and see the way they interact with the crowd. I was most surprised that there were only 5 of them.

The two guys in the back. Why so huggy huggy? It just doesn't look right.

Thanks for this daytime example of a cheer briefing typical of Yell Practices. And to answer +princelavo with an example concerning the BTHO Yell: Suppose the University of California - Los Angeles (Pacific-12) draws a regular-season interconference football game against Texas A & M (South Eastern) at New Kyle Field, College Station, TX, USA. I reckon that Bruin Tamers should expect a deafening "Beat! The! Hell! Outta!...U! C! L! A!" at some point from the New Kyle Field faithful; most schools' fans are familiar with the home cheerbook. ;-)

I don't get the appeal of yell leaders. The movements and yells are dorky and dated.

why is everyone so salty about this. no one cares about the cheerleaders at their school but everyone at A&M knows the yell leaders. "Yeah but this is so gay." lmao no, no one calls a group of girls getting the fans to do shit gay but replace them with guys OH MY GOD hOmOsExUaLs. Grow up.

I'm a graduate of the flagship university in Texas, The University.
As for my being a fan, I'm a fan of female cheerleaders at football games, not weird guys grabbing themselves. All male cheerleaders on your sidelines is gay, but that's fine for you. As you can see, this is a majority opinion. Stop fighting your feelings, farmer.
