Metro Detroit Ethnic Food Tour | Scottman895 Travel Delights

Metro Detroit has plenty of diversity throughout the area, and there are a lot of great restaurants featuring different cuisines. I head out on an ethnic food tour to explore some different foods in the metro area:

1. Balkan House (Hamtramck, Michigan) - The Balkan House in Hamtramck specializes in European cuisine especially Bosnian and Serbian food. I head there to enjoy some cevapi or cevapcici which is a Bosnian and Serbian staple. I had some when I went to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2017, and I look forward to trying some here in Michigan. The Balkan House also offers Berlin-style doner kebab. A second location in Ferndale, Michigan also exists.

2. Da Francesco's Ristorante & Bar (Shelby Township, Michigan) - Located in Shelby Township, Da Francesco's is a great Italian restaurant with plenty of pasta dishes and Italian classics. I get to enjoy a fresh Italian salad as well as some rigatoni with their signature meat sauce.

3. Oishi Restaurant (Novi, Michigan) - Novi is home to some amazing Japanese restaurants, and Oishi is the place to go. Oishi serves some great authentic Japanese cuisine including ramen, udon, and sushi. I get to savor some salmon rolls along with a bowl of udon with shrimp tempura.

My roots are in Croatia and Bosnia. I'm from just outside of Detroit. I think you may remember our conversing about your trip there 3 years ago. I wish you would have shown the plate of food...did it come with Avjar? The red peppers sauce? Or Kajmak...a sour cream looking condiment? When I come back home...I'll have to try this place.

Da Francesco's is our local favorite for Italian. Really good sauces. I haven't been in to check out their new building yet, which sounds like a good excuse to get out for lunch soon.

Fun video!! The things I remember most about Hamtramck (I was there years ago) are the Polish restaurants and the religious (Catholic) stores. I got beautiful holy cards. I'll never forget the insanely-delicious beet-salad I got at at a Polish restaurant!
