Arduino Tut. #4 - HD44780 LCD Setup and Programming

In the fourth Arduino Tutorial we take a look at how to add a display to our Arduino project. In the first part of the video I take a look at the datasheet of the display and explain how the pins are connected. In the second half I write a small program which will have the LCD display a line of text which is scrolling across.

I can't make heads or tails from your wiring schema. Do you have it in visual form? You make statements that aren't complete with enough information to know where to plug in each jumper wire.

honestly, i have to say great for you schematic. Generally, i see in youtube of LCD arduino tutorial, pin vss= gnd and v0= gnd+resistor. but when I try with your schematic, they're vcc & v0  connected with resistor, wow.. my LCD looks more bright clear! Thnks...(Y)

Nice, I think that's the display that comes with the kit I have.  There is so much information and examples out there it's hard to decide where you want to start.

when i connect my display to my board while connected to a USB or a 9v battery the power seems to drop so much that the board just freezes and i stop receiving input on my serial monitor... Any tips?

Basically, good job. There are some clear misunderstandings here about the use of digital data busses. Get and read Horowitz & Hill 3rd ed. You are very close.
