Cosette the Canary

Another day another sick emergency rescue - today's is Cosette the Canary. Mickaboo was contacted by the City of Berkeley Dona Spring Animal Care Services asking if we could take Cosette to provide her expert avian medical care. Thankfully a Mickaboo volunteer was nearby - thank you Megan for picking up little Cosette and transporting her to an emergency avian vet. Together our volunteer and the vet gave Cosette some medications and fluids and then set her up in an incubator.

We're still not sure what exactly happened to Cosette and what her long-term prognosis will be. We do know there was an improperly placed band on her leg that was restricting blood flow and movement - we see this often with small birds. Mickaboo is entirely volunteer run, we rely on donations to support the birds, and we see so many sick birds just like little Cosette. If you can support, please do.
