Great presentation Russell! We loved the link you made with Perth, Black Swan, Americas Cup, quokka and CY O'Connor. You are a proud Western Australian and we should all be proud of the work you are doing. The message on the end regarding looking after your mental is so important.
We may be biased but the work you do promoting your passion makes us very proud of you.

This is one of the most important talks I have ever seen at PyCon, this year or years in the past. Python in the browser would change the world!

Excellent, excellent talk on Python, the community, open-source and what the community can do to ensure that Python remains relevant and powerful into the future.

Really enjoyed this talk on 'black swan events' as they are clearly important, I'm going to try to see if I can contribute to the beeware.org project :)

There comes a time in any open source project when it would be beneficial to distance the developers from the community at large. Talking to the founding dev should be a privilege, and not something any random user can do. We need a new type of open source worker; the intermediary. This is the spokesman, the bouncer, the press secretary, the agent. You don't talk to the talent. You talk to the guy who talks to the talent, and is on the side of the talent, and has the talent's best interests at heart.

I would argue that by donating narrowly to the technologies you use, we have a situation that is sustainable for open source. Communities that do not do so will not have quality software, and will become irrelevant over time. Unlike shared physical resources, it is not a problem that there are free-riding parties, as copies cost nothing. What matters is that there is a part of community that values progress of their technology enough. We can't and dont need to convince everyone and each company to give back.

Just imagine how simple funding would be if all the BIG corporate companies using Python would spare some dime

Neither link to slides works. Speakerdeck has other talks but not this, GitHub is a 404.

Does it need to include all the hyper political correctness? The trigger warnings are a bit over the top for a python talk.
