Lots of comments asking why Michigan and Ohio don't get along it would seem.

So, why does Michigan apparently hate Ohio so much? Well, the answer is longish, kinda boring, and history heavy, just as a forewarning, but I'm a native Michigander, which qualifies me to present myself as *the* eminent authority on the subject, regardless of what anybody else on the internet says. So gather round and prepare to waste a few minutes of your life that you'll never be able to get back:

so, the bad blood between the two states goes back to their very beginnings as Territories in the late 1700s. When the maps for the law that created the Territories that would eventually become Michigan and Ohio was drawn up, Michigan's southern border was straight, going East-West. When the states wanted to graduate from being territories and become full fledged states, the government sent out surveyors to well, survey the land and ensure that the maps were accurate.

As it turned out, the maps were not perfect, and if you look at a modern map of Michigan, the southern border has a notch in it where the "straight" line looks like it got lost and chose to head in a different direction until it smartened up and remembered where it was heading.

The conflicting maps and survey plats meant that both states technically had a claim to the city of Toledo. Today, Toledo's just another Rust Belt city in decline on Lake Erie, but in the early 1800s (when this disagreement was occurring), it was seen as *hugely* important to the economic future of whichever state was able to control it. This was because, at the time, there were no roads to move goods from the American Midwest to the East Coast. If you wanted to ship something or sell produce, etc. it had to be transported by barge, ship, or boat along the Great Lakes to the brand new Erie Canal, and from there to the East Coast. And as luck would have it, Toledo was situated in an area that would see very high traffic as ships would have to pass by in order to continue moving East, making it a very important port town with the potential to become a very lucrative city.

So, Michigan and Ohio both felt like that had a legitimate claim to Toledo, but by this time, Ohio had already been admitted as a state, while Michigan was still a territory. When Michigan applied for statehood, the US Congress basically said "yeah, no, not yet. figure out your beef with Ohio and then we'll get back to you." Obviously, each side thinks they're in the right, so nobody wants to back down from their claim to Toledo, the City of Future Riches.

Tempers flared and it got to the point that militias were called up, and in Michigan's case, troops were indeed deployed to fight the Ohioans. Thankfully, before any actual shooting-fighting occurred, a deal was brokered which required Michigan to drop its claim to Toledo. In exchange for giving up on Toledo, the Congress would grant Michigan statehood *and* extra territory.

This extra territory is Michigan's Upper Peninsula. If you look at a map of Michigan now, you'll see that there's a Southern half that looks sorta like a mitten, and a Northern half that looks....I don't know what it looks like, but it's not a mitten. Anway, the Northern half is physically attached to the state of Wisconsin, but is in fact Michigan. As things turned out, Michigan got the better half of the deal as the UP was loaded with timber, copper, iron ore, fisheries, etc., while Toledo never turned into the huge port people hoped it would and today it's a small, kinda dumpy, city without any real big draws.

anyway, tl;dr: there was a border dispute over the city of Toledo, and both states had sand in their undies until big dad US gov't enforced a solution. There are still hard feelings over the dispute. Also, Ohio is the butthole of America. Just slightly worse than Florida.

Edit: I kid, I kid, Ohio isn't *all* shit. just like....mostly completely shit. They got Cedar Point tho, so there is that I guess. Still Ohio tho.
