Wild Discus Unbagging - Heckel Discus

Unboxing my new wild Heckel discus that I brought from Maidenhead Aquatics Ascot. Their beautiful fish with striped markings. Rather uncommon and often seen as rare. I have them housed with Baryancistrus chrysolomus (magnum pleco or mango pleco), the common bristlenose (Ancistrus aff. cirrhosus) and banjo catfish (Bunocephalus spp.). Their kept in a freshwater tropical aquarium or fish tank.

I've found that wild discus are much hardier than domestics. I keep mine in tap water and they thrive.

Great info. You mentioned hybrid heckels. Do the 4 species breed with each other if put in close proximity either naturally or in aquarium setting. Thank you for sharing. 👍
