Matt Kean opposes Coalition nuclear push

A battle could be brewing between the Federal and New South Wales Liberal parties over nuclear power.

Shadow Treasurer and former Energy Minister Angus Taylor has criticised state moderate MP Matt Kean, for suggesting nuclear is not a feasible option for Australia.

Matt Kean claims there is no practical pathway for nuclear to play a role in helping Australia replace coal-fired power stations in line with climate science.

Mr Kean believes the Coalition has been “increasingly focused on nuclear power” rather than renewables.

Angus Taylor has said that “Labor’s renewable only madness will fail”.

Matt Kean clearly requires a reality check.

The Libs would be much better off without Kean. Let him join the Greens and stop pretending to be a conservative.

Kean should have joined the ALP cause he is not representing the direction of the Conservative Party

Matt Kean is a Liberal in Name Only. He needs to be thrown out of the Liberal Party. The mind boggles as to why this has not been done.

Green Kean has skin in the renewables game.

He would of course… what more would you expect from a green plant…?

"An attempt to delay and defer responsible and decisive action on climate change" is a nonsensical statement. In fact nuclear power provides clean energy base load power, just ask France which gets 70% of its energy from nuclear.

If you don’t have nuclear, you MUST have coal/gas generation.

Since they want to get rid of coal, the only solutions to have constant and abundant power would be either nuclear, hydrogen or gas. It's the only way to drive prices down, supply and demand dictates having an abundance of something, so that something gets cheaper. Renewables won't do that, which Malcolm Turnbull gave the game away the ither day when he said that nuclear can't be wound down and then ramped up. They want electricity to be scarce so they can set prices where they want them to be.

Perhaps Green Kean could go to Queensland and help Giggle Boy Miles. They are both irrelevant

Drop net zero and keep coal fired power. Problem solved.

How does someone like Kean get into the Liberal party. Another example of poor recruiting of candidates.

Kean should resign from the Liberal party and move to Labor or the Greens where his Climate Change agenda support can be appreciated.
It has no place in the Liberal Party.
