I think the biggest reason why it sounds better is because Cardi B's voice doesn't seem to "fit" with the tone of the song. Adam's voice is very smooth and classy, and trying to mix his voice with Cardi's tone doesn't seem to flow as nicely. And the rapping itself doesn't seem to fit into the song at all
