Casted metal is weaker and breaks much more easily. because when you melt down the metal it destroys the natural pattern of the metal, thus weakening the metal. That's why its better to forge metal.

It is not aluminum due to the fact that there are no burn marks on the sand or steam/smoke, it's probably led or silicon
