Hopwood gets more and more lovely. When the house is finished, I wonder which of his fans he is going to invite to live with him there?

Only just come across this channel but it was surreal seeing this church considering I live a stone's throw away from it and can see it from my kitchen window lol. Lived In Middleton most of my life so It makes me happy to see it on YouTube!! Also love that you're restoring Hopwood Hall it's a beautiful house, thanks for the videos, new subscriber here:D

You could make that into a wedding chapel and host small weddings in the chapel and larger ones in a larger room. Hopwood Hall has so many possibilities.

Great to see Hopwood being restored, there are some fantastic original architectural features, that deserve saving . Good luck and best wishes in your endeavour.

I just found your channel and am thoroughly enjoying bingeing the content while I convalesce.

You are so funny and I couldn’t agree more - no downward dogs in the family chapel! 😂😂

This is so wonderful that you have the opportunity to restore your ancestral home. I love the idea that something may be behind that 4 foot wide wall, how exciting! you'll have to give an update when you find out!

I love seeing these films as I lived in the old hall for 3 years and now live opposite the college.

Hope you will get advice from Catholic experts in traditional churches and liturgy about restoring the chapel. Some of that would definitely be different than an Episcopalian church.

It’s all so exciting to reveal the history. The oldest timbers in the house are probably reused from the first wooden buildings sat on these stone plinths when the site had a moat surrounding it.

Thanks for sharing. Just want to say I’m really enjoying your book Downton Shabby. Best of luck with the restoration. You need a fundraising day. More videos please to keep us updated.

In the 1960s, the DeLaSalle Christian Brothers used the Hopwood estate as a Catholic teaching training school....DeLaSalle Brothers are a Roman Catholic order of Brothers (no priests are allowed in the order). They are a worldwide order of 3000 Brothers with close to a million students in their LaSallian schools - from preschool to universities)

Fascinating, as always!

My family's ancestral home in Galesburg, Michigan wasn't big enough to have its own chapel.... However, the Congregational Church in town was built of bricks from the brickworks on the family property, so there's still a connection. But I don't know whether family pews were a "thing" by 1861 when the present church building was constructed....

Anyway. Keep the videos coming! And by the way, the "downward dog" is done by forming an upside down V with feet and hands on the floor, and the, um, sitting place straight up in the air. :) No, I can't do it either.
