The way to put our pieces back together, to make the shoes we walk in feel like our own, to defeat the demons, is Jesus Christ and participation in His One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church which is Eastern Orthodoxy, which can heal us. Our true home is heaven, our fall made us lose having been made in the likeness of God but we can regain that likeness through struggle in the Christian life through His Grace; we retain His Image despite our fall. And our true home is Heaven where we'll live eternally with our reunited eternal souls and resurrected + perfected/divinized human bodies after His Second Coming (we expect the resurrection of the dead and the age to come, where body and soul will reunite after the first death).
Nice song with good meanings and some pretty profound questions... as long as people don't idolize their pain and don't merely stay as-is; we need to take the next step and let Him change us. His Saints, both ancient and contemporary, point the way and guide us to follow Him like they did (like Saints George, Dimitrios, Catherine, Eufimia in the former case, Saints Paisios, Porphyrios, Iakovos Tsalikis, Efraim of Arizona, Justin Popovic, Sofrony of Essex in the latter case).
