231. PATENTED STOP CHAMFER PLANE. Mander & Dillin. Patented by James Mander in 1885 and manufactured in Philadelphia. The patent is rated R2 (fewer than 25 examples) in Blanchard & Larson, and the toe is marked with the patent date. A couple of tight checks in the toe, otherwise a rare patented plane in near fine condition. Good+ 80 - 150

91. LOT OF TWO FENCED CHAMFER PLANES. The type shown in Whelan, Figure 8.9. One by E. Preston & Sons, the other nearly identical but unmarked. Good+ 80 - 150

280. CAST IRON CHAMFER PLANE. H.C. Deane. Very uncommon form of chamfer plane with cast iron body, brass adjustment and bridge, rosewood wedge. Signed H.C. Deane on the bridge. It should be patented but we couldn't locate Deane's name in any reference work. Very unusual, and very cool. Good+ 100 - 200

301. CHAMFER PLANE. Stanley No. 72-1/2. With beading attachment. Type 2, early type lever cap screw, J mark on cutter. Wood fine, japanning 99% and not repainted. Includes eight double-ended beading cutters. Fine 400 - 800

560. STOP CHAMFER PLANE. Lee Patent. Cast iron version of Joseph Lee's iconic stop chamfer plane. Lee was constantly fiddling with the design; this one has the nickel-plated gothic window design and cutter holder pinned to the frame as shown in PTAMPIA I, Plate 19. Not marked with Lee's or Thurston's names. Mahogany tote immaculate, japanning and nickel nearly perfect. Fine 5000 - 10000
