Physical exam reveals tachycardia, point tenderness and rebound tenderness positive in right iliac region. Emergency laparotomy reveals inflamed appendix. Blood cell count shows an increase in a number of cells having a multilobed nucleus and multiple cytoplasmic granules as shown in the provided picture. What is the main function of these cells?

Ro sings sign is referred rebound…so it is RLQ pain after testing for rebound tenderness in the LLQ…not direct tenderness in the LLQ causing RLQ pain…

most likely ddx is appendicitis since appendicitis is high neutrophils the the process is killing first engulfing then phagocytosis the correct answer is A phagocytosis

When you talk about elevated numbers can you PLEASE always tell us what's normal??? Here's what I found on Google: The normal range of the percentage of neutrophils is between 45% and 70%,  A normal (absolute) neutrophil count is between 2500 and 7500 neutrophils per microliter of blood.
