David Mitchell: "I like pens. And I like to know where my pens are. For this reason, I have a three-point pen policy."

Would I Lie to You? is the hit BBC panel show where two teams of celebrity guests try to figure out whether their opponent's ridiculously far-fetched statements about themselves are true or, in fact, a lie.

Featuring inimitable host Rob Brydon with lightning-quick team captains David Mitchell and Lee Mack.

Would I Lie to You? is brought to you by Banjiay Rights in partnership with Zeppotron and the BBC.

Guessing it took many years of editing and refinement for David to whittle the policy down to only 3 points.

The way David was visibly furious when Lee broke the pen told me this was true.

"Is that your pen, or a BBC pen?"
"This is now my pen."

I"m sure that later Lee presented David with a high-quality pen as compensation. I"m also sure that, when accepting the pen graciously, David thought "So, my plan has come to fruition".

This was cut too early. Lee mouthing 'I'm sorry' at the end is the most touching part

I think it's sweet that Lee genuinely looks regretful that he took the gamble and broke the pen.
Wonder if he bought David a new pen

If I ever visit the UK, I’ll carry a box of pens with me in case I meet David Mitchell.

I remember a sketch on That Mitchell and Webb look with Rob asking David to borrow his pen to jot down something he’s being told on the phone and David stating no he may not unless he signs a contract promising to return said pen once he’s finished 😂 Rob needed a pen to sign it, that David still won’t hand over 😂😂😂😂

I'm overly aware of when and who has borrowed my pens, & ask them back as soon as it's reasonable to do so. I hate the "can I borrow your pen?" that ends up being a permanent move to someone else's pocket.

As a teacher who is constantly asked by students to borrow pens, I completely agree with David Mitchell. I NEVER let students borrow a pen. (They're free to take pencils, though)

David Mitchell is the Keyser Soze of the pen world.

Key is to have your own company with branded pens so that it's actually good when people steal your pens.

whats funny is he also wrote a sketch on Mitchell and Webb, where he took great offense to Webb trying to borrow his pen

He's right. It's really not much of a 3-point policy. It's more like just a policy; To always ask for a pen that's loaned.
