Rate of Force Development is unique to each athlete

🧬 The athletes profile is influenced by both genetics and training.

It’s beneficial to learn roughly what these numbers look like so you have a frame of reference when deciding on how to distribute training volume between strength, power, and plyometric exercises.

📊 Some helpful numbers: (Though these vary by athlete)

Ground contact time during max velocity sprint: ~0.08-0.1 sec

🏃🏽‍♂️ Time to reach maximal force: ~0.3-0.6 sec

Acceleration phase of sprinting: ~0.17-0.2 sec

📈 Change of Direction: ~0.4-0.7 sec

Bottom line: Being able to produce a lot of force with heavy loads can be helpful, but we also need to specifically train athletes to be able to produce that force quickly if we want it to transfer to faster sport movements.
