Just when I thought German goths were intense, Mexico is like, "Hold my cerveza." Those bars, clubs, and cafes are intense... especially the bar/cafe with all the skulls embedded in the walls! That Aztec/Mayan/Native Mexican art looks right at home there. It's gorgeous. Not to mention the art!! What talented people to be able to freehand album art, band logos and gorgeous murals. It's all so beautiful. I never knew my life was missing a Goth Trip to Mexico City. . .

that "yo soy darks" reference at the beginning had me in stitches!

As a historian I already wanted to visit Mexico City. But after this, as a goth I must visit Mexico City.

I can not believe how very quickly this channel has become a favorite. I am just an old fat house mom whose kids are grown. I am far from goth more of a fairy, flowers, and light. This channel just captured me. It is so full of fun and beauty you just fall in love.

I remember going to Mexico City back in 1999 and seeing full blown goths dressed to the nines, complete with corsets, Victorian dresses, velvet frock coats, ruffled shirts, fishnets and and buckle boots along with Robert Smith hair and make up in the middle of a weekday afternoon! I saw them at the market, the subway, at the taco stand, etc. and that's when I knew that Mexican goths are hardcore!

Oh my goodness imagine having alterations in store by the designer! That's wonderful! 🦇

HOLY SHIT. This looks like the mecca of goths! It's so cool! Also that all the clothes are handmade by the owners is so so awesome 🖤

The coolest thing about this entire video is the support of small businesses with real passion and a DIY attitude. The closer these 'scenes' stay to the true anti-establishment DIY experimental art punk underground, the better. Thanks for showing us all the hidden gems out there. The best stuff is in the shadows.

Firstly I need a gif of that whole “yo soy darks” and the “cállate!” bit. Secondly I’m so happy to see others talk about goths in Latin America. Thirdly I need to go to Mexico City like... yesterday! And last of all Thank you for shining a spotlight on independent and family run businesses, particularly in a time when slow fashion needs more exposure. 🖤

Genuinely one of my favorite episodes. I’m a native NYer like you but been living in Cali for 25+ years and Latinos are a HUGE part of the Gothic/alternative community for quite some time. In addition to Mexico, there are actually lot of really great Goth/Metal bands from South America....

Thank you for that wonderful inspiration! - Mexico City appears to have a scene that still holds so much that I miss from the 90s and 2000s of Goth like making your own clothes, passion for music and creating dark things

They have such a supportive goth and metal community, I think I need to visit some day.
