XLR to USB Audio Mixer Review - Behringer, Focusrite and Presonos

IN VLOG #055, Paul reviews the latest XLR to USB Audio Mixers (USB Audio Interfaces) with side by side test recordings. The models compared are the Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD, the Presonos AudioBox 44VSL and the Focusrite Scarlett 18i8. Paul reviews audio sample rates for live streaming and video production along with why he chooses the Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 as his favorite USB audio mixer.

Very useful tests and comparisons, thanks for posting this. To be honest, all 3 sounded pretty noisy -- that is, I hear a significant ambient noise that may be "self-noise" from the interface or the mic, or I wonder if it is something in the room, like computer fans. Did you get a clear sense, yourself, that one of the interfaces was quieter than the other 2?

Hi Paul, thanks for your great review! I think Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 is the best choice. Is it possible that I can use a midi controller like "Korg Nano KONTROL2" to control the volumes or music play during a live podcast show?

Focusrite sounds better because it was louder. You should match the output volumes for the 3 interfaces and then compare the sound, it'll much more fair. Cheers!

volume is off. The volume on the focusrite was louder than the other two.

Focusrite is three times more expensive than the price of the Behringer is it three times better or is a case of “a fool and his money”
This is astronomical “diminishing returns”
