What audio device are you using right now and would you recommend it to others?

This really makes me think badly of TC Helicon as a company. They put out THE audio device for streamers, youtubers, podcasters, etc. and absolutely *dominated* the market right from the start. And now, they're just like "yeah, who cares?" Wow.

I'll use my GoXLR until I can't anymore, because I love the damn thing. I'll be sad to have to replace it, but I appreciate Harris for showing us all these options.

It's crazy how something this expensive can just have discontinued support by the company

The Wave XLR is an excellent little device I think for a single pc setup whether you’re streaming, making videos, or on voice calls/meetings because it’s very simple and effective like you mentioned. If elgato made a stream deck ++ or something and added an xlr connection to the back idk how anything could beat it

I think you need to update the video with a pinned comment. The GoXLR by TC Helicon is still receiving updates and will continue to get updates. Yes the team was laid off, but it's still getting updates.

I'm personally using a Rode PodMic hooked up to a Yamaha ZG01 in tandem with a Stream Deck Plus. I was using a Wave:3 for a while, and I absolutely fell in love with the Wave:Link suite, but I ultimately wanted an XLR setup and had my eye on the GoXLR for years. Ultimately, I was your review that convinced me to go for the ZG01 instead. The biggest draws for me were the onboard output swapping between headphones and speakers, surround sound emulation through stereo, and the integrated HDMI Switcher. My monitors at my desk are only 1080p, so I don't need to worry about the limitations of HDMI 2.0 for the passthrough. As for audio routing, I have all my game audio coming directly through the Game output to take advantage of surround sound, while all other audio passes through Wave Link. I can then adjust the levels of each channel as I see fit, then send the monitor mix to the ZG01, while also still keeping the Stream Mix that goes to OBS.

They had so much potential. Sad to see them having a "One hit wonder" then never innovating.

They should open source the software. Hopefully one day that is a legal requirement for situations like this

My use case for the GoXLR might be kinda niche, yes its an audio interface for my XLR mic but I also like the hardware volume controls, the multiple sound output devices and the ability to have headphones and speakers connected at the same time. I don't stream anymore but I love the GoXLR for the features that it left me with that I've gotten used to enjoying. I'll probably keep using it while it still continues to work ok. Unsurprisingly not many people cover which device or combination of devices will give me this weird combination of features I enjoy. That's ok, I'll figure it out, good video! I was very sad when I heard TC-Helicon was throwing the towel in.

For those on a budget, the Fifine Gaming Audio MIxer is essentially a GoXLR without software for $45. Can even do two PC setups, has custom sound pads and several voice changer options. Also includes faders for the control options.

"The post made by an ex employee who was a DEV of TC-Helicon, the company released their Canada support department who was working on a version of the GOXLR software to be compatible with Linux and Mac. After the team got fired, a DEV went on to say that the GOXLR software will no longer be getting support and the post picked up steam on social media forcing TC-Helicon to release a statement on their twitter page letting people know a few things:

From TC-Helicon's Twitter post:

-Your GoXLR is not Dead!
-Their gaming product line will still get support.
-Its true that they released their Canada team but doesnt mean they are no longer supporting the software, just means they are changing dev teams.

The DEV who made the post with the news of the team getting fired created a discord and has now released an open source version of the software which is a carbon copy of the original GoXLR software with additional features. People in the discord are allegedly making donations for said DEV to keep working on the software for future Windows Updates. Not sure what the legalities of using a proprietary software to be released as open source when TC-Helicon is still selling GoXLR Minis and GoXLR on their site and on Amazon, you would think if it was discontinued it would be pulled from those sites.

Something to note here, the GOXLR has NOT had an update in a about a year and a half and its still working just fine...so dont jump the gun just yet and wait for TC-Helicon to actually say that they wont support the product any longer before you go out and spend hundreds of dollars on new hardware.

Now, say that TC-Helicon doesnt come through with their support and your GoXLR no longer works...then look at the second option which is the DEV who released the open source software...again, not sure what the legalities of that is as of right now since TC-Helicon has not officially discontinued products and they are still being sold...but just keep your options open.

If neither one of those options work, then yes, take a look at this video and purchase a new piece of hardware that offers you the best options and that is within your budget...but dont buy something before a final announcement has been made by the company, your GoXLR may still have plenty of years to go."

This is a comment from @madskizophrenik, I'm just passing it on.

I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for the incredible content you produce. Your videos have been a constant source of inspiration and knowledge for me. I admire your expertise and the effort you put into creating valuable tutorials.

I have been following your channel closely and noticed your previous video on connecting and programming the GoXLR within the Windows settings. It was incredibly helpful and detailed, guiding viewers through the entire process step by step. Your approach makes complex tasks seem much more accessible, and I genuinely appreciate your teaching style.

I recently purchased a Rodecaster Pro 2 and would like to connect it to my PC while optimizing the Windows settings for the best performance. As someone who values your expertise, I was wondering if you could create a similar video for the Rodecaster Pro 2. A step-by-step guide on how to connect the device to the PC and program it within the Windows settings would be immensely valuable to me and many other viewers.

I understand that creating such content requires time and effort on your part, but I believe it would greatly benefit your audience, including myself. Your ability to break down complex processes into easy-to-follow instructions sets you apart, and I trust your guidance.

Thank you for considering my request, Harris. Your videos have been instrumental in expanding my knowledge and helping me navigate the world of audio equipment. I eagerly look forward to any future content you create, and I appreciate your dedication to delivering high-quality tutorials.

Keep up the fantastic work, and thank you once again!

I'm very happy you made this video. I'm planning to get a mixer along with other things to start streaming/content creating, and you listing out and explaining mixers one by one really helped me out, also making me help find in my price range, so again thank you for this!

Just got myself a Mackie DLZ Creator. I use Linux, so being able to record audio to a USB stick, as the USB C drivers are for Windows only. Amazing mic sound which I can tweak if need be in Audacity. I paid £769.00 pounds for mine and am blown away with the performance of it. So much better than the GOXLR ever was.

Goxlr isnt dead Harris, they are working on the Goxlr 2.. Canada office shut down but they moved to Norway and we all got a new update today

Tbh, I would go with elgato. I've tried multiple rodecaster pro 2 and they all have an issue with the screen having lines on it. Their quality control is not the best and if you contact support don't expect to get an answer in like a week or maybe even more.. Terrible. The beacn one, I didn't even had an interest with. Because if they abandoned the go xlr, what are the chances that they will not abandon another project.

5 years? I come from a stage audio background and the life expectation of our gear is in decades.
I'm still using analog boards from the 90ies and they work just fine. 5 years is unbelievably short.

There should be a law that whenever this kind of thing happens, all of their stuff gets open sourced so the community can maintain it should they want to
