EXCELLENT EXCELLENT video for someone who never tried to buy a part for a home furnace. Very detailed info but without any unneeded content and for a novice like me, well I needed that.

Here in the Portland, OR area we recently had 115° temperatures and over a hundred people died from the heat. The local HVac stores refused to sell life saving AC parts to the public - not even a simple $20 capacitor to get an AC running. At one store I went to, a guy with a pregnant wife at home was in the parking lot literally begging contractors to go inside and buy him the AC part he needed. I personally think this is criminal behavior, when people are literally dying, to maintain this collusion between the contractors and the suppliers. Thank you for this video to show ways around these unscrupulous price fixers.

👍 Thank you very much you are a virtuoso. I am going to tell you about one of my problems ... I worked as a maintenance in an apartment complex, the company towards HVAC theoretical and practical training courses. I obtained a credential when passing the HVAC exam, I lost the original I have a photo copy. My A / C home was damaged and investigated and the problem the capacitor and the burned cable, I went to buy it from SEARS and they did not sell it to me because I was not a contractor. Finally I got a second-hand one in good condition. I saved a money because an A / C contractor would charge me $ 180. THANK YOU, your information will help me a lot.🙏

I bought a used variable speed blower module from a company in Florida, found them on Ebay. In looking for this part I saw prices vary from 500.00- 1200.00. I got 2 of these from this company Programmed for 100.00 each! The fan has been working Great and quiet! Most guys do not install a filter for whole house electrical spikes. Almost all electrical appliances are sensitive to these. The main boards are the first to get damaged by bad spikes. Thank you for this great video!

To get the part number, I first check the literature inside the furnace, a/c, etc. there is usually a part chart with common replacement parts. Thanks Jay. Keep up the great work. Much appreciated.

I am just now seeing this video so it is not real recent, but I have dealt with one of the shops on this list. I live near Indianapolis, IN. Shortys HVAC is about 15 miles from me in West Newton, IN. I just ordered a Lennox high limit switch. I have bought a blower motor capacitor and a igniter from them and they were factory OEM and worked fine. He is a small dealer but trustworthy in my experience .

Supply house is one of the best if they have your part.

Repair clinic is a good site and the most valuable aspect is the information on the site together with a grid photo which shows size. They are not the lowest and shipping can add to cost vs. Prime.

Nice long video, but my first choice is try to get parts locally if possible, easy pickup and return, plus it's nice to be able to match the part when it's in front of you, especially if you can't get a part number(such as a real old unit)

repair clinic is the best, sometime they even show you videos on how to replace the parts.

Thanks for the video. I'm in Toronto, Canada. Been able to get my parts locally so far, for my 1996 High efficiency Armstrong SX90, GUK100D20-2B. Amre Supply, Noble Hvac and plumbing supply. Got a Rotom Inducer Motor Assembly for $160 CDN total price from Noble, and the Flame sensor/Ignitor assembly for $82 CDN total, from Amre Supply. Cheapest anywhere I looked, even some of the US sites. Trying to keep the old thing going for this winter. In Spring, with more time to shop around and no pressure, I'll have to spring for a new furnace. But, like you said, I had to do a bit of hard work tracking down who had them and by what numbers they go by.

This video applies to most appliances in general. HVAC is a special case due to the additional skill necessary to accurately diagnose the faulty part, experience with the required tools, possessing those tools and the biggest is safety (electrical shock hazzard, high pressures, handling refrigerant and causing a water leak. HVAC distributes are particularly protective of their industry is one reason why they won't sell to consumers, not to mention the liability.
