How to get an Environmental Job in the Feds!

Start your environmental career by getting your first full time environmental job with Public Land Corps, Pathways Program, and Direct Hire Authority!

National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife, Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service, and so many more federal agencies. The Public Land Corps, Direct Hire Authority, and Student/ Recent Graduate Pathways program is excellent for kicking off your career in the federal services! Public Land Corps helped me by allowing me to apply to less competitive job posting within the federal government. Since beginning I have met people hired through numerous pathways. I chose to talk about the Pathways Program and Direct Hire Authority (DHA) because it seems to be the most accessible to people with a limited background that are wanting get a dream job in the field, doing science, and helping the environment.

Direct Hire Authority program from the Bureau of Land Management is different than a regular Direct Hire position which is posted. I'll go over this in a later video but for clarification, those positions are ones that will allow for people to apply to federal positions without having to worry about competing with others who have authorities that would normally outweigh them.

I am currently in college and finally got the courage to switch my major to biology with a minor in environmental science and concentration in ecology, evolution, and marine biology. I grew up in a national forest cause my grandparents worked as a private park rangers for a campground. These videos really help me understand and plan how to get it involved in this line of work that I have always loved but never thought I could do. So thank you!
