Chernobyl drone vid shows 'Russian dug trenches exposing troops to deadly radiation'

Drone footage taken from the exclusion zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant appears to have confirmed reports that Russian troops dug trenches and fortifications in some of the most irradiated parts of the region.

Demonstrating the Kremlin's disregard for the safety of their troops, Russian soldiers 'were ordered to dig trenches in one of the most radioactive sites on earth'. Delivering what could be a death sentence level of radiation to anyone working on site.

According to reports, some of the soldiers who were living there in the Red Forest became 'sick after exposure to heavy doses of radiation and in need of medical treatment in Belarus.'

A government statement that accompanied the video read:

"They managed to dig trenches and live in the Red Forest, eat fish from local reservoirs, drink water and ride old military equipment, which was mothballed here due to high levels of radiation."

The footage, which has been geolocated and widely shared on social media, shows mounds of disturbed earth and fortifications dug on the outskirts of the Red Forest, just a few miles west of the Chernobyl plant.

After the drone camera zooms out from the abandoned Russian positions and pans out, the ominous steel confinement dome that encapsulates the destroyed reactor can be seen in the distance.

Though reports that Russian troops were evacuated from the Red Forest to Belarus to receive treatment for ARS are yet to be confirmed by the UN's nuclear watchdog, there is speculation that soldiers who built the fortifications could well have been exposed to high levels of radiation.

Seeing how many Russian conscripts don’t even know about Chernobyl it’s not surprising they did this to themselves 💀

What kind of stupidity is this to knowingly order you troops to dig into heavy contaminated soil. Would be a charitable question but I suspect its not stupidity on behalf of the millatery leaders rather a cynical lack of concern for the lives of their own troops.

This radiation level won't kill you in a few days but will ruin health in next decade. Living with constant health problems is probably even worse. Soldiers like privates are told to dig trenches and they do what is asked, officers are the ones who should know about the risks and keep their risks minimized. This wasn't a direct conflict area, nor would the Ukrainans storm an area contaminated and near to a deadly reactor structure. This is an example how Russian troops are seen as expendables by their superiors. The higher ups knew the risks.

The Russian officers returning from that site can write 'glowing' reports about their activities there

Any weapons or vehicles that were in dug in positions may be radioactive as well.

Told ya. When I said they were digging a few days ago all the Russia bots were like “Nuh-uh you’re a liar.” Lol.

Digging in too Radiated ground is a brilliant Russian tactic! They should ensure all their troops and especially their commanders do this for extended periods of time. Most effective must recommend that Russia continues to practice this technique in Chernobyl for many years to come.
