Good tutorial. The swing groove is the most important thing when it comes to Boom Bap. Another thing I’ve noticed by the way is that pretty much all the producers who try to make Boom Boom with software end up making new skool hip-hop. It’s very challenging and difficult to get that classic feel without using samples.

And if you don't rely on quantize initially, it will be a good idea to understand the 16/T and 32/T QT option and how that maps to a beat with "bump". Changing Time sig to 4/8 or 4/16 and enabling click... to increase the feel without having to play an eighth note or sixteenth note pattern helps. Good video. But I feel most people may not understand why you're quantizing to match the 16th note closest to the beat in 4/4 Time. ~ basically what you're explaining.

I try not to quantize as much also, only on drum patterns tho. It rarely gets the swing I like. Nice vid tho💯
