Fabled Lands.... Such great memories! And now available on Steam! I still have the books and played them many times. It was great how the books allowed to you to transfer your character between them and accrue artefacts, items, money (shards) and equipment. Some areas can only be accessed with keys and artefacts from other books and allowed for endless replay options. Definitely buying this one. Thanks again for another great game man!!!

You should try the Sorcery! series. It's also based on a series of solo adventure books, with a similar style, simpler but elegant combat and creative magic system. It's not super hard, but it's a ruthless dark fantasy setting. The first game is super short, but the others give you much more and are much better.

One of my favorite series. I had one book when I was a kid and played the heck out of it. A couple years ago I purchased the whole set. Glad to see its getting some love. Hopefully one day they will make the rest of the planned ones that never made it to production.

Back when modems chugged along, before AOL, Netscape, even WWW at all I played a BBs game named Gemstone (others talk of Zork) I hope this game brings back memories like this... cuz it's REALLY foggy -_- but good times!

The playstyle reminds me very much of a more limited Wyldermyth: within its book(s) limitations it seems like a pretty good storyteller/RPG. I think it'd be well worth a few visits to see how things develop!

BTW since the commonest die roll you need to do seems to be for Scouting, perhaps completing that tutorial island adventure for +1 Scout point might be an idea.. plus sell off that redundant Archery scroll at some mage guild (Sorceror's Isle maybe?)

These games always look interesting at first, but once you realize it's just another overworld map with multiple choice questions on some spaces, and a combat map on others...you quickly lose interest, remembering that you have already played this same game 5 or 6 times now. It just looked a little different.
