What a beautiful keyboard! That price is a little steep, though quality, niche products tend to go that way. I'm working on building my own keyboard right now with a similar typewriter style, though it'll be wired to keep costs down. Thanks for the review!

I’ve had one of these for 4 years. It’s so much fun to create on. That typing rhythmic sound can’t be beat.

This should be around $150 if you compare it to others of similar quality. It’s bizarre they can charge so much because customers don’t know about the competition.

Hey I just want to throw this out there, the different of having a clicky versus a linear for gaming is so tiny and minute that unless you're betting a lot of money and playing at professional levels, I would say that it's actually just preference.

However, this keyboard specifically does not lend itself to being a gaming keyboard due to a multitude of factors, such as the shape of the keycaps, body size, the bar. This keyboard while not made for gaming could be used for that case although it wouldn't be much better than a $30 membrane based on the feature set.

It all really comes down to the use case as well. This keyboard, like Mark says, is a novelty item and that is where the bulk of the cost comes from. There are other keyboards that come in this form factor for much cheaper, however this one does seem to have the best build quality from what I have seen.

If you're not absolutely dead set on the qualities of this keyboard and the cost, I would recommend a host of other mechanical keyboards. If you are in the apple ecosystem, I would recommend the k1 v4(the latest version). It is mechanical, hot swappable, has three bluetooth profiles because it is also wireless, full button assignments, full rgb lighting, and comes standard with apple key layouts. That keyboard also is good for gaming as well, I would recommend that you plug it in to be used though to avoid any lag.

If you have a windows system, then literally anything in the mechanical keyboard market.

There are so many good keyboards out there and I feel like it's a bit misdirecting if someone recommends $290 keyboard that comes with standard cherry blues. The original asking price of this product is $400. For that you can just get a custom made keyboard with everything you want.

I love your in-depth review of this product, Mark. I have been eyeing this beauty for a while on Amazon, definitely a part of that niche community. The build quality makes the price sufficient. Absolutely purchasing the QwerkyWriter S keyboard for my iPad Air 4.

*gasp* !!! I remember using a manual typewriter, and the company I worked for — without consulting us for our input since we would actually be the ones using the machine — went out and got an “electronic” typewriter. That’s what they called it. It was completely FLAT. The exact opposite of this beauty. WHAT A IDEA. Such a failure. No one could use it.

Do the letters wear off easily? I am thinking of purchasing one but will not if the letters come off easily. Thanks for sharing your review.... I always appreciate people that are willing to take the time to give a detailed opinion on something I'm interested in buying.

The First Keyboard you showed (aqua marine) is similar to Typewriters that were used in Colleges especially in the 1950's. In later years, Typewriters like that were used to write Chick Lit Novels.

I’m typing my response on a very similar keyboard - mine is by 7-Keys, but it looks very similar, and the rounded keys are the same. It also has cool colored lights with different effects, which is awesome. Mine has blue switches, so it’s super clicky. I’ve heard of yours, so maybe I’ll need to try it out.

Just blooming brilliant. I been looking for something like this as a journalistic writer with nostalgia. It's an eye catcher on a plane or train. Now, what about a lot of then recent alternative brands
