I am in complete agreement that texting or or using a phone while driving is not just a bad idea, but irresponsible... However I think this test is a little biased towards showing the serious of texting. "Legally drunk" is hugely different to the states some people drive in... the ones that most of us would consider a "drunk driver"... The ones you see driving home at 20 mph and swaying in the road.

why ppl are doing this while driving if they cant? 4 example I don't have to look in to my mobile to write a text message, so I think its same as smoking while driving. One hand in use, eyes on the road and everyone is happy. P.S. Even passing police car cant see me doing this :D

They are not controlling certain nuisance factors... such as the experience of the drivers and their age, the control factors of same type of cell phone could be confounding on this experiment. They should reconduct the experiment and using Match sampling either Precision Matching or Range matching. With precision both of the subject should be the same age and same driving experience. Also use the same type of phone because we do not know if in fact the independent variables are driving and text

1+1=2 people!! It doesn't matter if you THINK you can drive while texting. YOU CAN'T! The only reason why you haven't gotten into an accident is nothing more than luck! Stop being arrogant and start caring about someone else's life but your own. I have almost been hit by these assholes. Watch the news, read about it! Educate yourselves and stop being ignorant. It's unfortunate they usually don't learn until it's already too late. I can't believe how people can text in their car. I can't do anything when I'm driving. I mean, sometimes I can't even talk to the person next to me when I'm dirving and say 'hold on.... ok what you wanted to say?' Imagine texting... that's nuts!
