I used to work in tax resolution. Through the hundreds and hundreds of clients I worked with, not one ever had an IRS agent just show up at their door. They send letters. This is not only suspicious timing, but very irregular behavior for the agency.

In person is you requested to show up at an IRS office; usually because the questions are too complex for a mail or phone inquiry. If the IRS comes to your home or place of business, it's usually the criminal investigation division. They carry badges and guns.
