The IRS doesn’t send people to your home. This is chilling.

When people speak of the IRS in terms of Gestapo and KGB, it is actions like this that gives legs to such language.

I respect Matt so much. This has happened before to others. This is a threat to Matt shut up & get in line! Good for him to stay his course

How Debbie Wasserman-Schultz keeps getting re-elected to Congress is beyond me.

I used to work in tax resolution. Through the hundreds and hundreds of clients I worked with, not one ever had an IRS agent just show up at their door. They send letters. This is not only suspicious timing, but very irregular behavior for the agency.

So is this why DWS and the non-Congresswoman were attacking him over his earnings.

The IRS typically doesn’t show up to your doorstep either when you have tax problems. They usually just send you a letter. Obvious threat.

"You got a nice house here Mr. Taibbi. It would be a shame if something happened to it".

This is highly unusual. Why would they show up at his door. The normal procedure would be to send a letter first.

Did the IRS just show up or did they have an appt? I've never heard of the IRS just showing up due to being so "short handed" and all. Get the actual agent(s) under subpoena to testify against their superiors.

Hang tough Matt! Those breaking the law... like IRS agents abusing power... will all be going to jail. We just need to be patient and work hard. We're winning, or else they wouldn't come after you and us.

There are three general kinds of audits: mail, phone and in person. The most often used is by mail. In person is you requested to show up at an IRS office; usually because the questions are too complex for a mail or phone inquiry. If the IRS comes to your home or place of business, it's usually the criminal investigation division. They carry badges and guns.

This is unusual for the IRS. The IRS always sends you a letter by mail when they think there’s a discrepancy in your tax return and requests information. They NEVER visit.

When they can "Interpret" the statutes to their own ends, everyone can be criminalized.

Yep, government overstepping their boundaries and out of control

This outrageous and inexcusable. If this were happening to a journalist under the Trump administration, shxtlibs would be clutching their pearls. On the other hand, I guess this explains why they need 87000 new IRS employees.

The IRS sends letters, do not send agents to the door.

How the heck did Bri turn this story into another race issue. Oh, that’s right she turns every story into a race issue.
