Ludens Ensemble Tour

Показать описание
Ludens Ensemble is an Edinburgh-based theatre group that works with projections, live music, masks, puppets, and animations, creating performances that ebb and flow between the aesthetics of critical distance and immersive experience.
Ludens Ensemble was formed in Edinburgh in 2015 by Philippos Philippou and Vangelis Makriyannakis. Together, started working on the traditions drawn by the historical avant-garde in theatre and their relationship with the advent of new media.
We are currently collaborating with 'Pafos 2017, European Capital of Culture' for the development of three performances under the general title Collective Memory and Forbidden Stories. We have already developed two of our performances: Macbeth: without words which is a rework of Shakespeare's Macbeth in the absence of spoken dialogue and Ubu Roi by Alfred Jarry. These two performances were accompanied by a series of workshops.
Collective Memory and Forbidden Stories has received funding from 'Pafos 2017, European Capital of Culture’. Ubu Roi is co funded by ‘Creative Scotland’ and supported by the ‘Institut Français d’ Ecosse'.
Both our developed performances have toured internationally (Shanghai, Hangzhou, Berlin, Pafos, Limassol) and around Scotland with more destinations pending.
Ludens Ensemble is one of the two theatre companies invited to perform at the ‘Hidden Door Festival 2017’. The coming year will also see the opening our own studio in Edinburgh where we will be holding series of workshops, performances and small scale video productions including art-promo and music videos.
