Paint Color Mixing - Maroon and Purple

I often only use primary colors and mix my own turquoise, teal, green, pink, etc. In this video I show how I mix reds and purples :)

These paints are all premixed with floetrol and water for acrylic pouring but you can also just mix the paints by themselves.

Materials used:

Artist's loft flow acrylics
Floetrol
Water

Paint Ratios: 50% floetrol, 30% paint, 20% water

I wish I'd watched this before I had the bright idea to mix blue with red and make purple. I put the blue in first however, and ended up with mud! I've since added pink and white but still not the royal purple I will have to grin and bear it this time. Thanks for a very helpful clip. I'll check before I begin next time.

I need to match "oxblood". I will use rust oleum and it will go on cast iron. Thought I would start with a can of regal red and add blue? Your maroon and purple might be close.

for more vibrant purples, i find mixing in a pre made magenta in tandem with the blue and red will really punch up the colour!
