Currently in year 12 and taking four A-Levels, expecting AAAA at AS; taking 4 A-Levels is hard and unnecessary. I'm doing Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Comp Sci, and finding the time to fit it all in and to become competent in all 4 is hard. I'm dropping Physics at the end of the year because of it, so all I would say is REALLY consider whether taking 4 would help at all; I know you might want to (so did I), but if it isn't necessary and isn't going to help, don't. Nowhere, not even Oxbridge, need four A-Levels, and it's better to get great grades in 3 than good grades in 4. i.e An AAA would probably be looked at better than an AABB pretty much every.

Thank you so much! I just assumed you can always drop an A level after the first year, now I know to double check this!

i started college doing 4 a-levels, physics, maths, chemistry and french. but then one month into the year i dropped chemistry because honestly 4 a-levels was too much for me, i simply didn't have enough time to do all the homework and revise well for tests.

at our school you have to do four or three and an extra (eg epq or as languages)

I'm starting a levels in September and I think I'm starting with 4 (economics, government and politics, German and psychology) and then I'll drop one after about 6 weeks because I don't know which I'll enjoy most as I haven't done psychology or gov&pol before

I want to take German, French, Maths, and maybe Drama, but I'm really not sure if I should or not, I really love it but I only want 3 really. A bit stuck :P

I'm in year 11 atm and the college that I want to apply for advises to do 4 a levels if you are doing further maths to keep options open but as I want to try and get into Oxford or Durham I would rather focus on doing 3 a levels (this is for a Physica degree). Is having maths, further maths and Physics a good enough set without taking a fourth a level?

I'm taking Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and I'm not sure whether I want to take Chem or Econs as the last subject. (Not exactly sure what I want to do at uni but perhaps something in Finance). Need to decide and confirm in 3 days. Advice?

Hi Primrose! I really need some advice. I want to do biology, English literature and french but I also would like to do chemistry. The sixth form I would like to go to only offers three and if you do four (which I can because I am a higher achiever) you cannot drop it for some reason :( I don’t know whether it would be too much to do four but if I decide I want to do a science-related degree then chemistry would really help me. I’m just lost. I always change my mind on careers so I also think if I decide not to do science it would be a waste of hard work doing four :/

Do you have any advice for someone that'll do 22 A Levels?
Someone who went to Cambridge did 22 A Levels in two years!

I want to do French, Spanish, Geography and RS for AS then drop RS for A2 and do Turkish (my native language) for A2, so I'll have four a levels and one of them I won't have to work for since I already speak Turkish fluently.

Does anyone recommend doing biology maths chemistry and physics or is this too much (for medicine)

I see but do u think 4A* is better then 3A*? Or is it that once u reach the 3A* level, any other A* for A levels will not matter as much. Also do grades help with scholarships?
