A beautiful song with Shelton Feazell on bass. Pretty sure I hear some Isaacs in there too.

Being from the Appalachian foothills this was sown into my blood. I can close my eyes and go back to to the warn out pew in our little Pentecostal church Harbor lights .
Melvin Bridge was the pastor, a old man on fire for the Lord, he'd strum that old guitar so hard the strings would pop before the sermon started.

My grandma always kept a piece of gum and some snacks in her purse for me and a pen and paper to keep me settled down after playing alongside the pastor, about every song we played was a combination of G, C, AND D .

I was kin to the whole church and after service we all went to mamaws house to eat the best food on this side of Appalachia .

Laughter and the smell cigarettes and coffee filled the air .
You could never focus on what any one person was saying cause everyone was talking at once but that worked for my folks .
Id give anything to be surrounded by family again .

These songs bring me back to that peaceful feeling but leaves me longing for a place that's nearly forgotten by those that lived a similar past.

Anyway just wanted to get that out .

Take care folks

After all this time chasing a hell of a life, now I am with Jesus Christ inside of me. Thank you Jesus Christ, even if I was and did what I did, You brought me here.

I've been listening to beautiful bluegrass all my 50 years of life. You just don't get any better than Ralph Stanley.

This takes me back to being a child raised in a southern church. I strayed far from the Lord but He has redeemed me! Praise His Holy Name Jesus! Praise the One I Adore!

Ralph had the voice of an Angel and that banjo. Chills every time I hear him sing and pick. Rip in heaven leading the band

I'm not a Christian. I am a Heathen. But I'm an American, and I love my American heritage. This music is a powerful rope that connects me to that heritage. It's part of what makes me who I am.

What a glad thought some wonderful morning
Just to hear Gabriel's trumpet sound
When I wake up when I wake up
To sleep no more (to sleep no more)
Rising to meet our blessed redeemer
With a glad shout I'll leave the ground
When I wake up (when I wake up)
To sleep no more (to sleep no more)

(When I wake up) some glad morning
(To sleep no more) jewels adorning
(How happy I'll be) over in glory
(On the beautiful shore) telling the story
With the redeemed of all the ages
Praising the one who I adore
When I wake up (when I wake up)
To sleep no more (to sleep no more)

Glory to God I'll have a new body
Changed in a twinkling of an eye
When I wake up (when I wake up)
To sleep no more (to sleep no more)
Leaving behind all troubles and trials
Bound for the city up on high
When I wake up (when I wake up)
To sleep no more (to sleep no more)

(When I wake up) some glad morning
(To sleep no more) jewels adorning
(How happy I'll be) over in glory
(On the beautiful shore) telling the story
With the redeemed of all the ages
Praising the one who I adore
When I wake up (when I wake up)
To sleep no more (to sleep no more)

(When I wake up) some glad morning
(To sleep no more) jewels adorning
(How happy I'll be) over in glory
(On the beautiful shore) telling the story
With the redeemed of all the ages
Praising the one who I adore
When I wake up (when I wake up)
To sleep no more (to sleep no more)

My precious Mammow would always be listening to Bluegrass in the kitchen. I praise Jesus for my God-fearing Mammow and how she set the example for all her children and grandchildren. I have been so, so blessed.🕆😇
