One of the things I have loved the most about this series of videos is how clear it is that Jim draws inspiration from a multitude of things that are NOT D&D. That's crucial advice, especially for DMs looking to break into homebrew for the first time. Don't feel locked into Goblins as depicted in "official" published lore. Civil servant Goblins is a great idea, as is a vine hydra, and dung gnomes, etc. You don't need to rigorously stat up Batman to bring the vibe and tone of Gotham City into your setting. Sometimes, it takes a bit for players to adjust expectations away from accepted lore, but if they're open to it, the game just explodes with imaginative possibility.

One of the things I really like about Mr. Davis is his ability to find utility in books I had thought were mined out (the 5E DMG). Now I want to go check that out again!

This is inspiring. I am a DM who is more character driven and prefer running more social interactions but watching these past few dungeon building vids has struck a chord and for the first time, I have a craving to run a dungeon crawl. Nice work!

That part around minute 30 about things that are worth interacting with was neat. And reminded me how Diablo does things. Most of the time its good but there are things like Mimics in the world so some caution is warranted. Thank you for all the work you and your team does. That is a great picture of SPACESHIPS!
