It breaks my heart to know that vehicles back then were made to last. And now, they are designed with an expiration date

Wonder if they were sitting that relaxed 80 years ago

That's when you see 4-5 people on the same bench you see the real size of the half-track. Amazing engineering

Just imagine what sort of crazy fucking cars they would have built if they were still around.

Love the German halftracks. The 8 ton was really more of an artillery tractor, being unarmored. Only downsides compared to American M2 was the front wheels were un powered and interleaved wheels would get packed with mud . My brother had a 1941 M2 White halftrack that we drove around and it could go over small trees going uphill. Lots of fun! And gas😂

The German design engineers produced remarkable, logical, really useful and dependable equipment.

I never knew how big these things were. I thought they were the size of a normal half track like an m3 or sdfk…. I thought wrong

Sometimes I feel as though war is necessary for humanity as a whole as it forces us to think outside of the box and come up with new things like this ancient monstrosity

For me, a half-track is almost immediately associated with the German military, I really can't drive any other parallel for some reason. They're awesome pieces of engineering, both maneuverable like a truck *and* with almost the same off-road cappabilities as a tank. Plus they look insanely cool, as if a mad scientist chopped off a front of an armoured car and a back of a military Tow.
