looks like nintendo didn't think of this

There doesn't seem to be a simple method to quit YouTube on the Nintendo Switch without joycons. Aside from using the power button, there doesn't seem to be any other method to go to the home screen on the Nintendo Switch with the touch screen only. Any clever cookies have a solution or does Nintendo need to fix this?

Ninrendo Switch actually does have a software home button on the touch screen, at least as an option, but developers have to opt-in to it. Similarly, the lack of a back button is just thst YouTube didn't put one there!

So yeah, this is YouTube's fault, all they had to do was add a Home and a Back button, but that would be too much work, huh?

Cmon guys, we all know we need the joycon to control it but that doesnt change the fact that switch has a problem.least i can think is maybe they can make an update that let the user swipe/scroll the screen up from the bottom to get to the basic controll for home, back and history..umm...how do i explain this...yk know like your android phone?

I noticed that too. It's odd that they didn't give it a lot of features that they could have. They could just make it as good as the steam deck if they wanted too.

Scroll all the way down and there will be a search/home button

Yep i broke my joycons and now i use this method while navigating through youtube on my switch

I wish it was viable to use the switch without a controller/joycons. Unfortunately, the touch screen isn’t supported by a large amount of games and apps, not to mention the home button issue.

The touchscreen was an absolute afterthought from nintendo. I think they only did it because the panels were cheaper

YouTube tv was never designed to work much on touchscreens all it does is let you select a video and pause they dont expect people to use the switch like a tablet so they just took the basic yt tv version and added some touchscreen features but not many

Kind of amazed the switch can even play YouTube consistently. Not exactly the most powerful hardware.

Switch YouTube is just Android TV app thats why theres no proper touch support
