This would make a great theme for some National Geographic documentary about mushrooms :D

I remember first getting here. Everything felt so dangerous and odd, I was paranoid of a boss in every room, and I felt like THIS was probably the deep part of the map. Good times.

Man, it feels good seeing these mantises bow down to you after making your life hell everytime you had to get through them to challenge their lords yet again.

I love the suspicous, quirky, and misterous vibe this theme gives, especialy with the lead melody which has many parts with semitone resonence (going from one note to another 1 semitone away from it) which kinda fits the quirky nature of fungi, as they're essentialy a plant-animal hybrid

Christopher Larkin is such a genius that he created a song that actually sounds like mushrooms.

That sting of the main theme at 0:12 kind of gives this particular song a "the protagonist is thinking" vibe. ^^

I JUST NOTICED THAT FUNGAL WASTES USES A HARPSICHORD IN THE BACKGROUND AND ONE OF THE MANTIS LORDS THEME'S PRIMARY INSTRUMENTS IS THE HARPSICHORD!! THE SONGS ARE GIVING THE CONNECTION BECAUSE THE MANTISES ARE IN THE FUNGAL WASTES THATS SO COOL!! CHRISTOPHER LARKIN YOU ABSOLUTELY GENIUS

I can LITERALLY hear all of the annoying creatures chirping and scurrying around as I listen to this.

i like how the plucked strings are more playful and match the general area while the long synths are more majestic and match the mantis village. cool how much a song can change with a few instruments

my favorite part about this theme is the faint harpsichord you can hear in mantis territory. it's such a nice detail, especially with how harpsichord-heavy the mantis lords theme is

This song has been stuck in my head for the past few days and I don’t know why. I haven’t even been to fungal wastes in months :/

*I like how one minute you’re into a place that’s pretty melancholic (Fungal Waste)! the next you’re in an area with dead bugs and bugs that wanna kill you with the one of the FKING CREEPIEST THEMES EVER!!! (DeepNest)!*

Most underrated area in the game. The main reason I say that is simply because I haven’t ever seen someone pick it as their favorite area. I love the visuals, the “neutral” vibe of the soundtrack, the size of the area, and of course the grasshoppers and their village + boss fight. Idk, something about the Fungal Wastes feels unappreciated.

Trying to set up context for each hollow knight song in this playlist before the song ends:
As if greenpath hadn’t felt alive enough, this place felt like a living organism that liked to keep to itself. The ground you tred on releases spores with every step, as if warning SOMETHING of your presence. You’re not sure you want to know what that something may be. Or perhaps you’ll emerge unscathed, and even stronger for it. The spores glow like little lights as you walk on.

I guarantee you that if you leave your speakers on and loop this song as you sleep, I promise you the shroom effect will impact your dreams. Certainly did me, try it :)
