How TheBausffs Became League's Highest Ranked Pest

There is one golden rule that applies to all video games: don’t die.

From the filthy casual to the seasoned pro -- everybody knows the importance of staying alive.

But what if there was an exception to the rule? What if it was possible to die over and over again and still come out on top?

Well, that’s a concept upon which Simon “thebausffs" Hofverberg has built his entire League of Legends streaming career.

You see, for thebaus, not all deaths are bad. In fact, for him, a good death is actually his most powerful weapon.

He's one of the few league streamers that actually likes playing the game, most of the others just torment themselves for lp as they lose what sanity they have left.

Baus is one of the only actually fun streamers to watch. He might not have the best KDA, but he has the best mindset. I would take him as my toplaner any day of the week

His tempo management is extraordinary. He could go 4 deaths more against his lane opponents yet he would still be ahead of gold and cs against that opponent. His map pressure and presence is massive as if you don't pay attention to him, you're gonna lose your base and your sanity thinking how a Sion with negative KDA won a game. And I love it.

Not including the time Showmaker called him a Sion god is a huge oversight

For me the players that develop an unique game style are the most interesting to watch. And for some reason watching sion gameplay is satisfying especially when he gets kills in his passive.

the baus at a job interview:
interviewer: so what did you do the past 3 years
baus: i went to yale
interviewer: impressive, you're hired
baus: thanks, i really need this yob

It's just weird to me people even try to consider this intentionally feeding, he literally focuses farming minions and objectives over everything else on the map. This weird trend of having to go 10/0 to make an impact on the game has to go. The ONLY way to win a game is the destroy the enemy's structures, whether you have 0 or 30 kills is completely irrelevant.

Baus is honestly one of the coolest league players out there. Creating your own play style and fighting against the META is just so appealing to me because things get boring so fast.

Banning someone for abusing a game mechanic is the epitome of “hate the game, not the player”

The guy isn't even trolling, it's just his strategy and in a game as meta-oriented as League it's a breath of fresh air and honestly interesting.

He also seems likeable and genuinely having fun playing his own way while winning games.

If people don't like stuff like this they probably reached the point where they don't even truly enjoy gaming anymore and at that point the problem is them, not guys like him.

So glad Simon is getting some recognition! I am a Sion main and and happened to stumble across his videos way quite some time ago and now I watch him daily. He’s a goofy guy and I love watching his vids because he’s one of the few players who doesn’t put such high priority on KDA. What makes it even more enjoyable is he’s a super laid back dude who is passionate about the game and what he does no matter what people think or say about him.

That's what I love to see, someone playing their way and having fun.

I fuckin love it when "professional" analysts think they have more game insight than literal challenger players. Some peoples egos just cant handle the fact that the streamer knows more about league, can do your job better than you can, and on top of that is already massively popular, ofc hes gonna get picked over you buddy!

His wave management is unironically one of the best, to die but set up the wave exactly how he wants it pays massively in the long run and sion by chance is a champ that can allow that to happen.

His strategy of dying a "good death" sounds very reminiscent to the vikings of old.

Love the guy!
