I've been in a Kirby mood lately, so with the upcoming release of Kirby & the Amazing Mirror on the Nintendo Switch Online service, I finally want to get around to covering it as it's one of my favorite games in the series. And for starters, we'll be checking out some pre-release changes as well as a prototype demo build of the game! There's a bunch of altered graphics, audio, some unused enemies and even some cool debug features! Hope you enjoy!

I think the unused Kirby dead page was meant as a placeholder for when the pause screen was accessed while you’re waiting for an ally to give you an extra life. Nightmare in Dreamland’s multiplayer had a pause screen if you were out of lives saying “Being careful only takes a moment, but injuries last a lifetime…”

The unused pause screen with the dead kirby is in my opinion something leftover from Nightmare in dreamland, when you die in multiplayer and you have to wait for the other player to clear the room to proceed. This can be confirmed further by the image of Kirby in the bottom right which corresponds to the "Wait" state in Nightmare in Dreamland. But since in the final game you dont have to wait for the other player when you die in multiplayer this got removed.

10:23 Tokkon is likely derived from the word "tokkou" (kamikaze attack). So it's probably a name for the jet enemy.

I still have yet to beat this game on the gba, so it’s nice to be reminded of it again since it’s a good game

13:20 - The more I listen to it, the more the Dark Meta Knight battle theme demo reminds me of his pinch theme from Kirby Triple Deluxe. To me, the wavy synth sounds like it's been reincorporated in a way.
Outstanding video, it's fascinating seeing the behind-the-scenes content of games I really love.

8:00 That old design for the Master Sword ability likely harkens back to the Kirby anime. In that series, regular Sword Kirby and Galaxia-wielding Sword Kirby both have the green hat and similar transformation sequences.

ah yes, the *stopwatch* enemy totally isnt Stoppy, because Stoppy the jetplane makes so much more sense than Stoppy the stopwatch

Hell yeah this is awesome man. Kirby is one of my favorite series ever and amazing mirror is great I spent so much time on it as a kid even thought I would always get stuck or lost and just run around exploring. Once I got a littler older I played it again and it became one of my favorite Kirby games it’ll be awesome when it’s on the switch with online multiplayer

I love Kirby and the Amazing mirror. The conecpt of having a metroid vania styled kirby was always cool to me. I wouldnt mind if another Kirby game was made in a similar way

Somehow, I like to imagine Dark Meta Knight’s battle theme had a module effect to his song to make him feel creepy? That’s just how I feel lol

This is my favorite Kirby game of all time. I've played through it more times than I can count, and I still remember picking it up at the big case of used gameboy games at Gamestop for the first time. That feeling of adventure, being able to go through the interconnected areas, trying to find new pathways each time. Not only that, but having the other Kirby's explore the world themselves, even areas you aren't even in made the world feel so alive, and despite never having anyone to play it with, the ai made me feel like I wasn't playing alone. Some areas having minibosses with unique abilities to use, others having unique puzzles that require teamwork. The game's world felt so big, even giving you a map to keep track of where you are in it. Nothing felt better than finding those chests with a new Kirby color in it. I prefer this type of exploration as opposed to a level selection screen any day. I might be wrong, but isn't this the only Kirby game that had that kind of open world? In any case, this game deserves so much praise, even today.

I just loved the little "Hollup. Let him cook" Woody meme in the corner at 6:28 right when he was talking about the Cook Copy Ability.😂😂😂
