I agree, the applied SM hexagon to me looks great. It's unique, and in my eyes enhances the dial well. I have three SMs and only the pelagos homage has the applied logo. I wish all of them had it.

Yes, the numbers are much to different from the original Explorer MKR2. Also the hands are much to short. I hope San Martin brings a special one with a selitta sw-200 movement in the future. I also own the San Martin water ghost sn019-g with the sw-200 in black, its an absolutely dream watch.

Now if they did this watch with a VH31 movement, Gloss black dial and a brand name that actually fits on a watch dial
("Bolox" anyone 🤔?) then it would be a world beater...

I bought the turqouise dial of this watch with PT5000 movement. It's AWESOME. running at -1 seconds per day in the watch winder. It's comparable to my rolex datejust. I love it. The lume is crazy good. The only downside is that the bracelet edges are kinda sharp, you will feel it when you wear and take it off.

Dude your cinematography is super impressive. The RGB gets abit crazy at times but still looks good.

What I hate on SM 39mm Explorer homages is the design of the numbers. There are much to small and are totally different to the original numbers. Also the hands are to short. If they change thinks in the future I will buy one!

I sure wish they would do this size watch but darker dial/ or even a tropical dial vintage 1016 inspired with faux patina c3 lume and printed numerals. Just like the SN020-g 39, but with this 36mm case!!!!

FortunTely my PT 4000 worked great and keeps good time. It does seem like when you screw out the pins in the bracelet they do seem to work themselves loose over time. I am planning on using a thread adhesive like loctitte if another one starts coming loose. I think you should give it another try and if you are completely sour on the PT pay the extra money for the selita.

I have the Smiths Everest PRS 25 and I've been tempted to buy the San Martin explorer many times. The San Martin does a lot of things right, but I do agree with your points of contentions. I feel like the dial on San Martin deservers a deep enamel black dial, just like the new version of the SN004. (Only the gilt version of the Smiths Everest PRS 25 is deep black though). However I do prefer the printed logo to the applied one. The pt5000 is basically a gamble and they don't have a good reputation at this point.

I have the SW200 movement and have had zero issues. The bracelet has been great. I think you have had a duffer..

Haven't had any of these issues with mine. No rotor issues, no bracelet issues. Easy to remove bracelet. Exactly the same watch.

Wish they would create this model with a waffle/honeycomb design.

Just pay more and get the SW200-1 movement, and also use some Loctite 222 (purple) when resizing. You can Loctite all the screws if you are paranoid. A watch like this with a polished bezel needs a black enamel lacquer dial for the shine. Drilled lugs would also be good. I take it this is the SN020 model?

The movement itself is fine, PT5000, like sw200 and like all ETA2824 have known issues but if correctly used they works fine for years/decades.
The issue is NOT the movement but the user, most people expect ETA & clones to work like NH35, they simply don't.

As for your rotor issue, this is your watchmaker who is crooked. It's for sure a very easy and cheap repair. He just doesn't want to touch it because you told him or he saw it's from China/HongKong, that's a shame, but fully on him.

Have plenty of Watches with PT5000, none have issues, my kid and wife have this model in black and turquoise, they have been wearing them non stop since just about a year now and beating the hell out of them, and they have NO issues.

As for the watch itself, I agree,
- I like this applied logo.
- I would prefer drilled lugs.
- a black lacquer/deep shiny black would be much better.

I have this watch for about 2 year. Movement runing ok. Bracelet is hard to remove as all other watches without drill lugs. The only thing i don´t like it´s the logo.

Get what you pay for. Sorry this happened. Specs do not the superb watch make. Gotta tell the dang time. Hard to do that with a crap movement. Great vid !

The video show a deep black if the dial where it’s normally matte and look greyish in the sun?

I have the San Martin SN021G with the dark blue enamel dial. In most lights it appears glassy black. My watch has the pt5000 movement and after thee months it is performing very well - +2 sec/day. I have had one situation with a bracelet screws starting to become loose and fortunately I caught it before it fell out. Lock-tite on the screws will prevent this. I have had screws become loose on various other much more expensive watch bracelets over the years so this issue is not unique to SM. I think San Martin makes a great watch for the price but they are far from perfect.
