I had gifted this phone to my father and it arrived on 30th January .. I must say Motorola has came a long way since last 2-3 years ... The only reason was Stock android experience and no bloatwares .. also Moto has done some good work regarding the build quality I wish they had given the finger print sensor with the unlocking button rest the battery i am getting is impressive the charging is superb ... Even i am planning to switch from oneplus to Moto in coming months

Moto g5s plus, I loved that chop chop. I think that's one of the most practical gesture on smartphone. Also that phone was a metal build and it never hanged. Very satisfying experience for 3 years..

I bought 2 units of this phone (one in each color) for my parents. I think overall it is more than decent for 19k compared to other Chinese phones if we consider Stock Android and 13 5G bands.

Great review. This is the ultimate 'gift it to my parents' phone. I feel we're all a little biased towards non bloatware phones, when it comes to specs. Objectively, their hardware specs are average. I understand that's how other brands save money. But the Pixel 4A is a prime example. Camera is great, stock Android is awesome. Barring those 2 things, it's a below par phone. Heats up too often during regular usage and normal 18W charging, screen isn't too smooth either, there isn't any 5G band. Storage and RAM optimization works for awhile, but the pathetic hardware at 28k is inexcusable and combined with battery heating and 5G, the 4A will show it's age quicker.
That said, Moto is doing a fabulous job of giving us the best of both worlds.

Motorola is one of the go-to brands for me as of now. I agree the update situation isn't great. But that clean Android is my biggest interest.

I really appreciate the issue you found while using navigation about compass sensor. As a developer, I just thought of the possibility of misnavigation when gps is lost. Hats off to you sir👌

Regarding the update situation on Moto G40 fusion, it has been good .
I have received 5 security updates almost every two months as they had promised of bimonthly update scheme.
All updates are usually bug free and the update is installed in background (no need to wait on the boot screen for update to complete) which is quite cool in my opinion.
Currently on Jan 1 security patch and hoping to get android 12 soon.

Fingerprint sensor on back means the frame has not being compromised for structural integrity of side mounted fingerprint sensor, I once bent my phone by sitting on it inside my back pocket, this has never happened to phones with back mounted fingerprint sensor, I sat on phones many times before but side mounted sensor makes a structural weakness on chassis of phone making it vulnerable to certain pressure on chassis causing it to bend and even the screen popped out of adhesive. I since stopped buying side mounted fingerprint phones.
