Difference between Predation and Parasitism

Predation and Parasitism
In this video, I would discuss the difference between predation and parasitism
In both interactions one individual benefits while the other does not.
Number 1
In a predator prey interaction, the predator receives energy from the prey.
With parasitism, the parasite uses the host for a variety of reasons.
For example, a tapeworm lives in the intestine of its host in order to feed.
Some wasps lay their eggs on the back of a caterpillar so that the larvae will have food to eat and a place to live
Number 2
Most of the time a parasite or its offspring will live in or on the host.
There are exceptions, like brooding when some birds get other birds to raise their chicks
With predation, the predator would like the prey to be lunch

The predator has a single goal, consume the prey
Most of the time it is advantageous for the host to stay alive for the parasite
As long as the host stays alive the parasite benefits.
Many times the parasite needs the host to stay alive long enough to produce offspring
If the host crooks, the parasite either has to relocate or may no longer exist.
Rarely is it an advantage for the prey to stay alive for the predator
Number 4
Sometimes the parasite completes its life cycle inside the host
For instance, malaria parasites use two hosts to complete their life cycles.
Human and mosquitoes
This does not happen in a predator prey interaction

Many times a parasite will spend their entire life with their host
Mistletoe which is a parasitic plant will spend their entire lives in the host tree
A predator prey is an interaction and not a relationship

In many examples, the parasite will be much smaller and weaker than the host.
Because the predator must consume their prey, they will often be stronger, faster, and larger
