Today, we take a look at how the AMD FX 6300 can match up against some games, paired with some common graphics cards and hopefully we can figure out if it is still a good buy or simply just a waste of money in 2022.

Still rocking a FX-6300 and an RX570 in 2022. I hold on to tech for a long time! It's still doing what I need it to do better than my consoles (I only have a PS4 Pro and Switch). I'll probably consider upgrading whenever the world stops burning.

I use an AMD FX-8350 for legit everything, also when I'm not using my computer I have it doing work, so it's at near 100% all the time. Things a beast.

Run a max overclock and see if the one you have can push 4.7ghz like the one i have in my back up build does. Free performance if you have the proper cooling to push that clock speed.

Was running a FX9590 @5.6 GHz until last week. Did a great job for about 7 years. But now it was time for an upgrade.

I recently upgraded my AM3+ board from 8gb ram to 16gb for $17 and my FX4300 to FX6300 for $22. I figured at those prices the price/performance gain was worth it. I'm using a 1050Ti card. Opinions welcome!

I've been running an fx 8350 for a decade, now has RX480 graphics. What an investment. A decade of use, almost 24/7 running, X Boost enabled a lot of the time. I've used for business and fun without disappointment. I hadn't even thought of upgrading until recently.

I’m running the same setup, rx570 + FX 6300 + 8GB ram. The same thing happened to me on CSGO with the frame dips. Haven’t found a solution yet, but also haven’t tried that long.

I mean for someone who has a 1660 ti and only really plays shogun2, apex, need for speed heat, Genshin impact, valorant, and over watch. And as someone who DESPERATELY wants to get off his Athlon 3000g for literally anything with more cores and threads. If I found this cpu in a bundle would it be worth it? Is there another cpu out there thats maybe 20-30$ more and fits better with the 1660ti. I’m also on a a320m pro max board I’m also trying hard to get off of for obvious reasons.

My first rig ever was an FX-6300 and Radeon 7750 2GB. It wasn't great but it played Arma 2/3, Minecraft, and Battlefield 4!

EDIT #2: Your dips with the RX 570 was because AMD's DirectX9 driver is bad on newer OS'es than Windows 7, even if you tested with something like a Radeon RX 560 your dips would have been the same. Furthermore, AMD's loss of Unreal Engine 3 optimizations (version DirectX 9) resulted in Unreal Tournament 3 dropping to 22-27FPS in certain areas with non-Navi GPUs, whereas with a Nvidia it would do 60-90FPS at worst. AMD FX pairs best with Nvidia for DirectX9/DirectX11/OpenGL, but best with Radeon for DirectX12/Vulkan/Mantle.

Commenting at 2:36, don't compare on cpu-userbenchmark, they are extremely biased against AMD, I had a screenshot on my phone where my old AMD FX 8350 and Ryzen 5 1600 saw a decrease of 100 points in multi-threading and the i7 870 surpassed my FX 8350 and almost Ryzen 5 1600 when it used to be behind.

EDIT: The nice thing about AMD FX CPUs, is you can just play at Ultra, because the preset really doesn't matter, you will almost always be "CPU Bottlenecked" by FX and the dips tend to stay pretty similar.

0:25 - OK I know this is an old video but...WTF are you doing in this part? Stop fondling the Q-Tip and tapping the motherboard like this is art class. Just use pressurized AIR to blow the dust off. And...SERIOUSLY...you don't pour cleaning fluid ONTO the CPU. That's just ASKING for a spill to get underneath the pins and cause all sorts of problems. Just put some alcohol (* 91% or higher) onto a folded paper towel and wipe the CPU with it.
