DNS is already distributed, the shortcoming came from the owner of the domain name relying on one DNS provider, there's no limit on the number of DNS providers you can use. It's a problem that's been solved for decades.

Akamai is one of the biggest companies in this industry.
Akamai is one of the key players that made the Internet keep working during COVID-19,
While the traffic more than doubled .
Have you mentioned it in your videos ?

Anybody else noticed how we only get to know which companies run the modern web when there is an outage? Typical scenario for IT professionals. Nobody cares when shit is working

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't DNS query cached at multiple levels, like browsers do it, operating systems do it, etc.

I for one, memorize the IPs of every website I visit and don’t rely on DNS.

I mean you can configure multiple nameservers, if one goes down system automatically fallbacks to others and caches it locally

Your English is beyond good. You should make more tech educations as not only the tech knowedge is important but also to be able to present it in a good way.

DNS results are also cached on the computer, right? Maybe when a major DNS goes down, companies affected can just ask users to download a specific file that will manually map the address to the IP on the user’s computer.

Don't the device or browser or isp cache the ip? Did the outrage was for a new user and new isp ? 🤔

The moral from this story is you should have primary and secondary DNS from completely independent service providers? I have to admit my own DNS is same hosting, but at least different data centers.

ive run into dns problems with century link before and calling them does nothing, they dont know what you're talking about. I had to go into the actual settings and use google's servers. any time I tried to switch back same problem.
