Breaking news: you can’t, unfortunately 😩

So if these cases are made out of plastic, resin or silicone, you probably actually can't clean the yellow off because it's not "on top" of the case. It's a chemical reaction that occurs over time with exposure to light and possibly other elements.

Crafters who work with resin often struggle with the same issues -- projects turning yellow over time or developing a yellow cast. Same with clear silicone mold makers.

The yellow is typically right through the silicone or resin/plastic unfortunately.

It's a mixture of sun bleaching and sweat. Even if your hands don't feel sweaty, they're still sweating. Your hands have grease on them all the time and that mixed with sun bleaching turns it yellow. The way you can get rid of it is by using hydrogen peroxide and setting it in UV light. I watch a lot of old game console restoration videos and they usually have these make-shift chambers. They use a clear tote, fill it with peroxide. On the outside of the tote there's lights that face into the tote, and then it's all sealed up with tinfoil to keep the light in the tote. However this can sometimes cause the material it's made out of to become brittle, but only if you do it too much.

This happens because of UV exposure (sunlight and cleaning lights) and can be easily fixed with hydrogen peroxide and exposure to sunlight. I know it’s sounds counterintuitive since UV exposure causes the yellowing it but the hydrogen peroxide is really the key here. Just know that if you do this too often it can make some plastics a more brittle. Sometimes you can remove slight surface yellowing by using something like The Pink Stuff or baking soda because it’s a fine abrasive and acts almost like sand paper and removes the top layer (and the aged material with it).

This technique is used in restoring yellowed plastics in technology as well.

Oh and baking soda plus lemon juice (or vinegar) neutralize each other so your best bet might be to use one first, then rinse and use the other.this mix isn’t ideal for this application, but if you were cleaning something else that would be my suggestion on how to effectively use that.

its not the outside that's stained, its the internal structure, the only way to have a clear case again is to buy a new one.
that mixture works with tarnished metal tho

When tik tokers will ever learn that baking soda (base) and lemon juice (acid) mixed together ain’t doing sh1t because they cancel out each other, this is some 6th grade stuff come on 💀

me personally i’d rather drink the lemon juice then have a clear phone case

Try using hand sanitiser! I suddenly discovered this once when I had gel nails on. I literally had yellow stains on my nails from turmeric and the staining vanished after rubbing with sanitiser!! I also tested it on my clear phone case, which also had stains. IT WORKED WONDERS!!! 🥳

Simple solution : Don't buy transparent phone cases

That yellow color isn't dirt. (At least in most cases.) But the plastic's or silicone's reaction to heat and sunlight.

The yellow colour is because of oxidation which is irreversible in this case so whatever you do it won't go back to fully clean transparent. You have to buy a new one

It's made of silicone, it's either caused by oxidation or being exposed to uv rays, it permanently stays that colour, it's caused by a photochemicalreaction, not dirt

you can also make a similar mixture using vinegar instead of lemon juice

BUY THOSE HARD CLEAR CASES THEY NEVER TURN YELLOW

It's oxidation. It's porous, so it get scratches, the plastic gets air in it. Don't scrub it. Put a clear coat on it.

soda and lemon neutralizes so it doesn't make any
sense. You need uv paste and uv light to do anything with that

I wish people understood basic chemistry in that mixing something with a high pH and a low pH results in the same pH as water 😭 I know it makes cool foamy stuff happen but there's a lot more effective cleaners
