On our way to talkRADIO to feature on BadassWomenHour. Talking about Surrogacy and our journey as TwoDads in the UK.

For those of you that haven't seen our Instagram and FB channel @twodads.u.k we are Michael and Wes and are passionate about our special little family. We have two beautiful daughters and we live in Worcestershire in the UK.

Over the last 2 years we have been advocates within the Surrogacy and Intended Parenting arena. Our goals are multiple, (and are highlighted below) but the foundation of what we do is simple. To help normalise Same Sex Families in the UK and Globally by sharing positive, relevant content and news through our thousands of followers on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
As modern pioneers of same sex surrogacy and advocates of gay rights we’d be interested in talking to someone to see if our story also may be helpful. We began researching surrogacy 4 years ago, and looked into international surrogacy in Nepal, India, Mexico, Canada and the US but for lots of obviously risky reasons we opted for the UK route.

In 2017 Channel 4 featured our family in “Gay Dads Forever” featuring Kieron Richardson from Holyoaks which spoke about the highs and lows of being two dads in a modern world and our experience having Talulah who was born in October 2016 using a surrogate and an egg donor. We have also featured in TV Commercials such as the 2017 Sainsbury’s Christmas advert and an online campaign in May 2018 for Audi UK promoting their #futurefamilies campaign, which has gone on to be one of Audis most engaging campaign with several million views and an impressive national reach. July 2018 saw us feature with Talulah celebrating ‘IVF at 40’ in a positive Daily Mail national article, spotlighting our journey to become Dads through Surrogacy. A further Daily Mail feature in Femail on our journey as TwoDads during National Surrogacy Week 1st August – 7th August. On the 18th August TwoDads also featured on an award-winning Radio Show in August called “Badass Women’s Hour” on talkRADIO. We have also featured as guests multiple times on many BBC local radio shows talking about the various projects we have been involved in as TwoDads over the past 2 years.

Through our passion to positively make change happen, we are now being viewed by some as modern pioneers within the Same Sex Family network, something we’re proud of and therefore don’t want to let anyone down. There is also current TV documentary interest from a production company as we both start our second IVF journey due to commence again in the autumn of 2018.

TwoDads are also a “Gays With Kids” UK ambassador and part of the channels very successful and passionate blogger team. Gays With Kids currently have over 70K followers on Instagram 83K on Facebook and are seen as the ‘go to’ page for everything same sex family related. Their engaging content includes stories, product reviews and blogs and stories of couples from all around the world. Followers of this channel include many celebrity same sex families.

Our Mission

• We both have bold and brave ambitions that don’t just end with raising awareness of same sex families. Over time we plan to;

• Normalise Same Sex families, being supporters of UK altruistic Surrogacy, opening hearts and minds to families like ours - positively using same sex families to market their products or services

• Currently supporting with the Surrogacy Law reform in the UK and working with fertility and legal experts across the country

• Assisting with changed in the NHS by working with the DoH on Policy Change surrounding guidance to UK Healthcare professionals, this was achieved in February 2018

• Supporting Intended Parents & Surrogates in the UK through our social media channels, partner channels and commercial partners

• Actively lobbying to Increase Baby changing in Male bathrooms across the UK

• Lobbying to improve the Two Dads, Single Dads and Dad friendly new baby products, such as carriers, changing bags, prams, etc.

• Increase the number of Private Nurseries, Pre Schools, and Schools to hold Same Sex friendly books in UK and make it part of the national curriculum or at least part of their learning framework.

Whilst we aim to make waves and raise as much awareness as we can, we realise that all this isn’t possibly on our own, and our girls keep us very busy (as well as us working full time too). We do however plan on making progress with each and every mission, and will find ways to publicly speak about our progress either via Social Media or other means such as Fertility events and conferences.
