Ahmet Ertegun is considered one of the most significant figures in modern recording history. He co-founded Atlantic Records with Herb Abramson in 1947 and brought 50s R&B legends to the label's roster, including Big Joe Turner, Ruth Brown, Ray Charles and The Drifters. In the 60s and 70s, Ertegun helped manage acts like Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and Aretha Franklin. Ahmet is one of the co-founders of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation and the Rock Hall's main exhibition hall is named in his memory.

It's been 10 years since his passing and we're remembering Ahmet and all of his contributions to the Rock Hall, the Foundation, Atlantic Records and the music industry in general.

I tell people about Ahmet all the time because he is what America and this world is all about. Doing what you love, nurturing talent that you appreciate. Not letting greed consume you like a lot of managers and promoters. What a giant among men, one we can all admire and respect.

It would be awesome if Netflix makes a documentary about this legendary great man. His influences and work on American music made history, so sad that no one is mention him today. He deserved actually a own movie, imagine how many great artists he had signed and made them to legends.

Atlantic recorded some amazing artists and bought the best out of artists like Lavern Baker, Chuck Willis, Professor Longhair, Joe Turner and a host of others. Great studio musicians like King Curtis and professional recording techniques. The only black mark was their unfair dealings with Stax records in Memphis.
