I had a really good friend years ago. The kind of friend you could call out on their bs, and who would do the same to you. Just talk about anything, and we'd give our unvarnished opinions. I got him to give up drinking and go to AA. He got a good job, found someone to marry his pathetic self. And a little less than a year after he got sober, the doctors found that he had cancer in most of his vital organs. He died two months later... I still send him messages on FB, and wish he was still around. Every year, I listen to this song, and every year I cry. He was SO CLOSE to having his life in order and being happy!
