These are a big disappointment in design and build quality. really a shame from Stanley who could have made them really good if they wanted to.

I still have most of a set of the Stanley plastic handled drivers that my Dad bought back in the 60s. They were truly iconic as evidenced by the fact that I still use them and have abused them over the last 50 years.

I have these in the set with pozi, philips and flat blade and I use them almost every day and have not had any issues with them at all. In fact I really like them. The handles are a nice size and weight, very comfortable a really grippy. The tips have been fine, they almost never pull out of the head when in use.

At that price point I'd also recommend the milwaukee driver set, got the 8 piece set last year and they've been my go to set

I have a set of Stanley Fatmax simulated Diamond tip screwdrivers that I bought 5 or 6 years ago. The set was different from yours, it had No. 1, 2, and 3 phillips and the corresponding standard drivers. The #1 phillips has been used every day (literaly) and is showing wear but still grips. It is my go to phillips as are the other sizes but they are used less frequently. I really like the set. The only other #1 phillips I use is a very long 16" I think Snap-On for recessed or hard to reach screws. I have had the Snap-On for 30 years, I wore out my original and replaced it once.

Delighted to have your diamond grip analysis. Never used one; now I'll be looking for a couple of Lenoxes. Which 2 or 3 sizes in each style are the most popular diamond grip models?

Wow! No wonder they were sold at a department store. Valve grinding compound on normal screwdrivers works great for stubborn fasteners, the rest of the time those don't wear out your fasteners like any of these will.

Thanks! You saved me from checking out the simulated diamonds. I’m going to simulate buying them.
I just ordered the craftsman diamond tip set and I think I will order some Lennox since you like them.
I need a couple sets anyway and I enjoy nice tools. I keep tools everywhere I use them because I’m not able to get around easily but I still want to fix my own stuff as much as I can.
I just subscribed, so I will check out your channel. Thanks again.

Yeah, I agree the Stanley screwdrivers have become junk (IMHO); Stanley used to sell screwdrivers based upon price points:. Thrifty (the dollar store special); Handyman, the mass volume unit with a popular in hardware stores across the US; or, quality, with the Workmaster units with Boron steel shafts that offered high torque and comfortable handles. I'm still using the Workmaster units I originally bought in the early 1970's; that's quality! Even the 100 plus screwdrivers are much better than the Fat Max units.

Good price but best thing to do is get a wera screwdriver set and done with it plus wera grips screws brilliantly especially the ones with a laser tip and it does not wear away they are the best screwdriver out there is my opinion great review by the way

Funny the difference because Stanley owns dewalt and lenox

5:50... Because it needs to fit in the fastener... if you are adding diamond grit to a thickness that is on that grinding wheel (or cutting wheel whatever it was) then you would have to undersize all of your machining to accommodate for the thickness of the diamond grit...not a super hard thing to do but they're not gonna go to that extent for a shitty set of cheap screwdrivers that someone is going to buy....( regardless of the thickness of the diamond grit)... because they say Stanley and Fat Max on them...

I wouldn't even pay $1 for any set of screwdrivers that's not American made let alone these things.
If you can find a set of the 2nd ( tips are black, but they're otherwise the same as the earlier ones) generation US made Stanley 100 plus drivers they're excellent, I found a 2nd generation set NOS last year and couldn't be happier with them.
I however am someone who favors traditional hard handles, I'm not even remotely interested in funky modern handle styles or rubber grips.
The 3rd generation with the funky Philips tip Stanley now uses is worthless, and the current 100 plus drivers are imported so I don't know what the quality of them is.

I don’t care for the black, non-chrome finish. Talk about a stupid trend.
