In the time it took you to make the bottle-brush that has too much paint flow, I could have primed the raw wood AND painted it properly. In my 20 plus years of painting I have learned that painting is like singing. Everyone can, and some are good.

I'm a painter and the rubber band works. The silicone on the tape line works well but that is way to much silicone, it will leave a noticeable ridge forever. Wipe the line with a wet rag after the silicone if there is that much and you will have a great line. The rest of the "secrets" you will never see a pro waste time on. Happy painting and remember your primer!

Yes, I do have a better idea: when drilling into the top of an old paintbrush head with a power drill, do not hold the brush head in your palm whilst drilling towards your hand. Use a vice.
